What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fund Controller position at Atlas Search?
This position: Work along side private equity portfolio managers and external vendors, including fund administrators, audit, and tax professionals. This position will have primary responsibility for assisting in all aspects of operations for various private equity funds across the platform. The role involves providing oversight to the fund administrators in the process of recording and reconciling transactions. Qualified candidates will need strong time management and communication skills and be able to demonstrate critical thinking.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee third-party service providers (Fund Administration, Transfer Agency, Valuation providers, Tax providers, Audit, etc.), including the review and approval of quarterly and monthly financial statements, capital account statements, and ad hoc investor reporting prepared by the fund.
- Review management fee and carried interest or performance fee calculations.
- Review key performance metrics such as fund IRRs and total returns.
- Monitor cash reserves and review and approve capital call and distribution allocations and notices.
- Analyze underlying investment capital activity and related journal entries for accuracy, focusing on characteristics and bucketing.
- Facilitate the receipt and review of incoming expenses and various expense allocations.
- Perform data validation between external and internal sources.
- Maintain real-time tracking for financial data, management fees, and expenses.
- Provide data and ad hoc reports to senior management and the investment team as needed.
- Assist with SEC filings and other regulatory compliance.
- Provide support to other functional groups within the firm, including Investor Relations, Client Reporting, Legal and Compliance, and Corporate Accounting.
- Interface directly with external auditors and tax professionals to manage the process of completing annual audits, ASC 740 tax provisions, tax returns, and the distribution of K-1s and 1099s.
Company Requirements:
- Knowledge of general partnership accounting, financial reporting, and tax reporting. Familiarity with 40 Act funds and RIC funds is a plus.
- Strong familiarity with accounting standards including, but not limited to, US GAAP, IFRS, and Lux GAAP.
- 7-10 years of total experience, a mix of public and private experience preferred, with time spent in Big 4 and a focus on private equity.
- Familiarity with applications such as Chronograph, Canoe, Appian, and Tableau is a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting or finance; CPA preferred.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized with the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving, and results.
Salary : $125,000 - $165,000
