We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented State and Local Tax (SALT) Senior Associate to join our dynamic tax team. As a Senior Associate in the SALT department, you will play a key role in managing the company's state and local tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities. Key Responsibilities:
- State and Local Tax Compliance: Prepare and review state and local income, franchise, sales and use, and property tax returns to ensure timely and accurate filings in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Tax Planning & Strategy: Assist in identifying tax planning opportunities, including multistate tax strategies, and provide recommendations to minimize state and local tax liabilities.
- Tax Research: Conduct in-depth research on state and local tax laws and regulations to advise internal stakeholders on tax implications, planning opportunities, and risks.
- Audit Support: Support the tax department in responding to state and local tax audits, including gathering necessary documentation, preparing responses, and assisting with negotiations.
- Indirect Taxes: Assist with the analysis of state sales and use tax issues related to manufacturing operations, ensuring proper tax treatment of products, services, and transactions.
- Tax Reporting: Help prepare quarterly and annual provision calculations for state and local taxes, including analysis of deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including finance, accounting, and operations, to ensure that tax issues are properly addressed in a timely manner.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline state and local tax compliance processes and develop best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Mentoring and Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior tax associates, assisting in their professional development and growth within the company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA, JD, or Master of Taxation preferred.
- 3-7 years of experience in state and local tax
- Strong understanding of state and local income, franchise, sales and use, and property tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with tax compliance software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work product.
Salary : $85,000 - $105,000
