Overview:
As an Aerospace Manufacturing Operations Manager and Engineer, you will oversee the daily manufacturing operations in the aerospace industry. You will play a crucial role in ensuring production efficiency, quality standards, and safety compliance. Your leadership will be essential in driving operational excellence, managing resources effectively, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
· Quote all hard tooling required for specific jobs and determine how parts will be processed
· Design all tooling required using SolidWorks, Key Creator or NX
· Order all tool steel and other components for the job
· Assist in the tool room when needed
· Troubleshoot tooling, both old and new
· Maintain press room, tool room and equipment
· Create op-sheets
· Create the travelers
· Take pictures of new tooling and create manifests
· Invoice all PWA tooling
· Assist QA when needed
· Order all shop supplies
· Lead and oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations including engineering, production, scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management
· Ensure adherence to production plans, timelines, and quality standards.
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and lead initiatives for continuous improvement in quality processes and operational efficiencies using lean manufacturing principles
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all manufacturing activities
· Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs without compromising quality or safety standards
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related field), or equivalent experience
· Proven experience (typically 8 years) in aerospace manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role
· In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality management systems
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
· Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and proficiency in data analysis tools
· Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
· Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Lean Six Sigma is desirable
