We are now accepting resumes for the position of Underground Utility Locator. This position will assist our SUE Manager with locating in all 4 of our markets. While locating underground utilities on job sites, this position will also serve to train future staff in utility locating. The job entails identifying and mapping the location and depth of utilities such as water, sewer, gas, cable, and electric lines. Clearly documenting site information and utilities along with communicating with our offices and clients is also integral to the position. There is no weekend work, or "on-call" duty associated with this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Reading/interpreting utility maps and prints to identify underground utilities.
- Operate EM locating equipment to locate and mark underground facilities.
- Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary.
- Responsible for Quality Control and performance of all work.
- Responsible for the maintenance of all Company equipment and Company vehicles.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and organized with good decision making skills.
- Completion of timely & accurate time and expense activity
- Flexible and adaptable to change willing to learn new equipment and locating skills
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Utility locating experience 2 years
- Independent problem solving skills are a must
- Must be able to travel and stay overnight
- Able to work and accomplish goals with minimal supervision
- Must be able to independently remove and replace manhole and hand hole covers up to 300lbs
- Must be able to walk long distances on uneven ground
- The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, to bend and stoop, and to lift heavy items is essential; it is also sometimes necessary to enter manholes.
- Honest, Dependable, Thorough, Safety Conscious, and a Strong Work Ethic.
- Must be self-driven with little or no supervision.
- Must have current and valid driver’s license with MVR that meets Company requirements.
- Working conditions could be indoor or outdoor and the job is subject to extreme weather conditions.
