Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and pedestrians around construction sites. This position requires a strong understanding of traffic management principles, as well as experience with heavy equipment operation. The Traffic Controller will work closely with construction teams to facilitate smooth operations while prioritizing safety.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage traffic flow around construction sites to ensure safety for workers and the public.
- Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, loaders, and bulldozers as needed.
- Assist in utility locating to prevent damage to underground services during construction activities.
- Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate paving operations and other site activities.
- Monitor site conditions and communicate any hazards or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain clear communication with team members using hand signals or radios.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols on the job site.
Requirements
- Proven experience in traffic control or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, including backhoe, dump truck, loader, bulldozer, and front loader truck.
- Knowledge of construction site procedures and safety practices.
- Ability to effectively communicate instructions and information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Valid driver's license is required; additional certifications related to traffic control are a plus.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform manual tasks as needed.
