Job Description
Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company developing real solutions to treat genetically driven diseases. Our lead therapeutic candidate, bezuclastinib (CGT9486), is a precision kinase inhibitor designed to selectively and potently inhibit the KIT D816V mutation, responsible for driving Systemic Mastocytosis (SM). We are also studying CGT9486 for advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). We are currently enrolling two Phase 2 clinical trials for SM and a global Phase 3 trial for GIST patients.
The Medical Science Liaison role is focused on our lead clinical development program, bezuclastinib. The primary specialties for outreach and engagement include oncology, hematology / oncology, and allergy and immunology in the assigned territory.
The successful MSL / Sr MSL candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about making an impact on the lives of patients with unmet medical needs. Reporting to the Area Director, US Field Medical Affairs, this role will be at the forefront of educational awareness and building a collaborative network of HCP-specialists engaged with Cogent.
Responsibilities
- Manage the assigned territory as a scientific and medical expert in GIST and Systemic Mastocytosis.
- Support strategic priorities established with the cross-functional Medical Affairs and Patient Advocacy team.
- Develop and implement a territory strategy to engage in compliant, accurate, and data-driven scientific exchange.
- Lead external communication with thought leaders and HCPs to obtain insights about current practice and treatment landscape.
- Cultivate a network of experts and establish thought leader development plans.
- Assist with the facilitation of investigator-initiated research concepts.
- Remain current on training and adhere to corporate and healthcare compliance.
- Establish and implement an educational outreach strategy targeting relevant HCPs.
- Collaborate with the broader Medical Affairs and Patient Advocacy team at scientific congresses.
- Keep abreast of competitive intelligence and report insights from the medical community.
- Assist and lead the scientific onboarding and training of new team members.
- Foster Cogent’s positive, innovative, and collaborative culture.
- Be prepared to travel primarily within the assigned territory (up to 80%).
- Advanced medical / science degree required (Master’s and / or Doctorate).
- Medical professional credentials preferred (MD, DO, PhD, DNP, PharmD).
- 7 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs.
- 3 years of rare disease or oncology experience strongly preferred.
- Proven track record in executing compliant collaborations.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of scientific research.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving skills and positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
- Adept and comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Previous launch experience strongly preferred.
Qualifications
Salary : $185,000 - $220,000 a year
