What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Night Assistant Manager position at Atlas Wholesale Food Company?
Job Summary: Atlas is looking for a high-energy, accountable, responsible, team player to assist the Night Shift Supervisor in the overall management of the night shift staff and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the initial and ongoing training of the night shift staff. Additionally, the successful candidate will coordinate personnel and delegate tasks to warehouse workers. Night shift tasks include accurate product receipt from vendors and accurate order fulfillment in picking operations. This individual must have high personal standards for quality and delivery, with a passion and aptitude to adhere to all necessary food safety, OSHA, and company policy requirements. With a hunger for continuous improvement and an open communication style, this candidate must be comfortable with solutions-based approach to identifying opportunities, communicating with staff and management, and developing and implementing strategies for quantifiable improvement.
Essential Duties and Requirements of the Job:
1. Training Duties
a. Development and delivery of training strategy, plan, content (Training will cover areas such as the accurate loading and picking of products into routes, as well as other necessary company policies)
b. Maintain compliant training completion records
c. Initial and ongoing training of night shift team
2. Safety & Compliance Duties
a. Development of safety practices for night selectors
b. Create motivational implementation tracking for night shift adherence to safety and compliance practices
c. Enforce all standard processes
d. Review paperwork submitted by night shift staff to ensure it is complete and correct
e. Maintain Cold Chain compliance
f. General warehouse sanitation
3. Warehouse Duties:
a. Assist the Night Shift Supervisor in delegating tasks & supervising night shift workers
b. Fill in for night shift supervisor in his/her absence
c. Accurately pick products, build pallets, and load trucks using light industrial equipment
d. Load trucks in order of route sequence so products can be easily unloaded by drivers
e. Capability to learn ERP system including Invoicing Functions, Order Entry, Inventory look up functions
f. Maintaining a clean warehouse and products; fronting of stock, dusting product, rotation of inventory, and cleaning warehouse
g. Use scanning technology
h. Making morning pickups and accurately checking in products
i. Report all shorts & substitutions for Warehouse Night Manager approval
j. Make deliveries as needed
Other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
1. Assist night supervisor in analyzing errors and execution plans to correct them.
2. Assist night supervisor in monitoring picking rate, volume, and error rate and develop ideas for improvements.
3. Supervise vacation calendar for Night Shift personnel.
4. Communication with office regarding problems.
Requirements to Perform the Essential Duties of the Job:
1. Must be able to work weeknights and Sunday night.
2. Must be willing to work in freezer, refrigerated, and ambient conditions.
3. Strong focus on safety procedures
4. Neat and clean appearance wearing designated uniforms.
5. Training of equipment on forklifts and pallet jacks.
6. Overtime must be approved by the Night Supervisor.
7. Must clock out for lunch.
8. Other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements Needed to Perform the Duties of the Job:
1. Bachelors degree OR advanced certificate in Supply Chain management OR 2-5 years of experience in the Food distribution industry with a high school diploma/GED equivalent
2. Computer skills including Microsoft Word for document creation and editing, Microsoft PowerPoint for training presentation development, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis
