The Ideal candidate will:
Provide inspection, diagnostics, troubleshooting and project management on new installations and modifications of control and electrical systems. Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) requirements for electrical systems at plants and compressor stations. Experience managing the installation of electrical switch gear and motor control centers, circuit breakers, transfer switches and associated cable tray, conduit, conduit fittings and wire. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including, but not limited to, piping and instrumentation drawings (P&ID’s), electrical one-line diagrams, conduit and wire drawings, piping plan and section drawings, general layout and site plan drawings and Bill of Materials drawings.
Primary Duties
1. Provides high level diagnostic services utilizing various state of the art tools to the compressor station operations. The diagnostic services include, but are not limited to, compressor analysis, fuel efficiency monitoring, emissions testing, auxiliary systems performance analyses, leak detection, pulsation and vibration testing.
2. Provides engineering, project management, material management, installation and start-up of capital and operational support projects to meet business unit requirements.
3. Provides assistance in refining and implementing compressor and automation maintenance management program.
4. Provides technical support and guidance to other field employees to diagnose and coordinate routine compressor maintenance activities.
5. Manages projects from inception through completion including interacting with other groups both internal and external. Provides capital expenditure projections as required.
6. Coordinates and oversees activities of outside consultants providing professional services for the remedy of compressor operation and maintenance problems.
7. Provides company representation on projects to assure quality and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
8. Coordinates the safety activities and regulatory compliance of assigned projects during their design, construction and implementation phases.
9. Maintains current knowledge of industry trends and new technologies, as well as remaining current relative to pipeline safety, personnel safety and environmental rules and regulations.
10. Provides assistance to field operations for Railroad Commission pipeline safety audits.
11. Develops and communicates schedules and schedule updates of projects as directed.
12. Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE LEVEL:
1. Associates degree in engineering technology, electronics or computer science or a related field and four years related experience in operations, maintenance and trouble shooting gas pipeline facilities; or
2. A general educational knowledge acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five years related experience in operations, maintenance and trouble shooting gas pipeline facilities
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
NUMERIC SKILLS:
Requires the ability to apply research methods, and/or advanced statistical and mathematics.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Requires basic computer skills in order to utilize various software applications for developing documents, reports and graphics.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Works in a field environment.
Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
