The Network Engineer III is responsible for the operation, implementation, and maintenance of Atomic Data’s service provider network, as well as supporting all client network infrastructure. This role’s primary responsibility is to provide advanced technical support on network engineering activities, ensuring the design and implementation of robust and secure network solutions. Network Engineers work collaboratively within a team to manage customer networks, design/quote/build network architecture, and support a wide variety of client networks. Candidates must be adept at translating business requirements into technical specifications and anticipating end-to-end network infrastructure needs.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of networking and server administration, along with expertise in the latest cybersecurity treads, platforms, and architectures. Additionally, this role involves providing escalation support for troubleshooting network issues escalated from the Network Operations Center (NOC) and other engineering teams.

Essential Functions
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their infrastructure needs and ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the sales team in a presales capacity to present technical solutions to clients, demonstrating the value of proposed network architectures.
- Design, configure, and install custom infrastructure solutions for client networks and data centers.
- Provide advanced technical direction on network engineering activities, ensuring the design and implementation of robust and secure network solutions.
- Implement best practices for infrastructure design and management.
- Analyze, report and remediate network security breaches or attempted breaches.
- Develop and enforce network security policies and best practices to safeguard clients and the organization against cyber threats.
- Utilize industry-leading cybersecurity solutions from vendors such as Cisco, Fortinet, and Palo Alto Networks to implement network security measures.
- Implement and manage various routing protocols to optimize network traffic flow and performance, including OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
- Oversee the deployment of secure and efficient wireless networking solutions.
- Design and configure VPN solutions to ensure secure remote access for clients, employees and partners.
- Assess current network systems and recommend improvements to enhance performance and security.
- Perform routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking infrastructure.
- Collaborate with network engineers to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Monitor industry websites and publications for updates on patches, releases, and potential vulnerabilities.
- Stay current with emerging infrastructure technologies and evaluate their potential impact for clients.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing network engineering team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, promoting continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science, along with 5 years of professional network engineering experience; or advanced knowledge with 10 years of experience in a high-performance infrastructure engineering environment, specifically in support and network services engineering responsibilities.
- Extensive experience with one or more the following:
- Security Appliances - Cisco ASA/FTD, Fortigate, Palo Alto
- Network Switching - Cisco Catalyst, Aruba AOS, Extreme
- Wireless - Cisco, Aruba, Extreme, Ruckus
- Network monitoring tools
- Network documentation
- 24x7 operations experience required
- Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to participate in a 24/7 On-call rotation, travel for work-related projects, and work occasional weekends when needed.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs. unassisted
- Preferred Skills And Experience
- Industry Standard Certifications: CCNP, Fortinet Certified Professional, PCNSA - Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Admin, (CWNA) Certified Wireless Network Administrator, CISSP, JNCIP, AWS Solutions Architect
- Subject Matter Expert in one or more of the following:
- NAC - Cisco DNAC, Aruba Clearpass
- SASE solutions
- Zero-Trust Architecture
- Network Automation; DevOps
- Public cloud offerings - Azure, AWS, Google
- SIEM tools
- Proven experience with supporting data center infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Low Voltage wiring standards including both copper and fiber
- Knowledge of power & cooling implementation in a datacenter environment
