Responsibilities
The Director, Learning and Development works closely with senior leadership to align learning and professional development strategy with organizational priorities and goals to increase retention and performance. This individual leads the Design, Facilitation and Learning Logistics teams to provide training (both in-person and virtual) and ensures content accurately represents Company policies, business practices, and government regulations, while meeting Company brand standards and quality expectations.
- Work with senior leadership to identify performance needs and learning gaps to determine project priorities and delivery solutions, which will provide desired results that tie directly into the Company's overall strategic goals and priorities.
- Lead Learning & Development team with direct reports of Instructional Design and Facilitation Managers.
- Ensures the work of the Learning & Development team accurately represents Company policies, business practices, and government regulations while meeting Atria's brand standards and quality expectations.
- Manage relationships with external vendors.
- Establish and implement guidelines and best practices for designing and developing scalable, multimedia-rich learning solutions.
- Continuously evaluate learning content to ensure it is the most effective and cost-efficient way to deliver relevant training to all levels of employees throughout the organization.
- Ensure that all trainings (in person or virtual) meet the highest standards of facilitation, participant interactions, overall experience, and follow-up to participant supervisors.
- Supervise large events (e.g., Regional Meetings at Support Center), coordinate with stakeholders, and provides all necessary support.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, developing, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Provide ongoing professional development for the team, hold members accountable for goal setting, and conduct regular 1:1s and performance conversations.
- Establish criteria for program success and interpret and analyze all program evaluation results. Establish measurable goals to show the impact of the Learning and Development program. Report results to vested parties.
- Take the lead in assigned projects, ensuring project flow is followed, including kick-off meetings, managing deadlines, and ensuring appropriate stakeholders receive frequent project update communications.
- Understand and monitor the critical path of projects to identify and remove obstacles that could impact development timelines and meet established deadlines.
- Coordinate with various departments such as Care, Culinary, Maintenance, Sales, Marketing, Information Technology, etc., to assess needs and identify learning development and delivery solutions.
- Partner with the Director, Leader Development & Engagement to implement strategic talent and leadership development programs aligned with organizational direction and goals.
- Provide insight and recommendations for selecting and adopting instructional materials, tools, media, and software for online and classroom training events considering budgetary constraints.
- May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four (4) year college or university in adult education, human resources, organizational development, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Learning & Development and five (5) years of management experience. A combination of experience is acceptable.
- A strong people manager who is highly collaborative and an inclusive team player.
- Knowledge of learner-centric instructional design and learning technologies, as well as adult learning principles.
- Strong, well-organized project manager capable of multi-tasking and who is self-motivated.
- Flexible and responsive to changing priorities.
