Home Health Care Insurance Authorization Specialist
Location - Wallingford, CT

Due to out continuing growth and expansion we are seeking to add another position as Full Time Home Health Care Insurance Authorization Specialist.

Job Summary:
Prior experience with Insurance authorization and/or billing in a home care, hospital or medical practice is required. Candidates must have a strong financial background. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and analytical and problem solving skills. Strong background in customer service and multi-tasking required. This is a very fast paced position.
The Insurance Authorization Specialist is responsible for obtaining authorization of treatment from insurance carriers including; receipt of referrals, conduct necessary third party authorization requests, and complete authorization appeals.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for contacting insurance companies to verify patient’s insurance benefit.
- Adhere to the established policies and procedures of the company.
- Participate in educational activities, as well as meet and fulfill requirements necessary.
- Billing resolution as necessary.
- Complete and fax all required paperwork to payers to facilitate authorization process
- This position also includes answering phones, retrieving voicemails, and responding to email authorization requests.
- Obtain authorization for initial and ongoing patient treatment
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- High School Diploma/College
- Proficiency in computer applications and other electronic technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret medical benefits for verification requests.
- Ability to organize workload and manage time effectively.
- Ability to understand and follow HIPPA regulations.
- Strong communication skills including proper phone etiquette.
- Friendly, Positive attitude and a Team player is required.
