Wake Forest Emergency Providers (WFEP)
is excited to offer a unique opportunity for an experienced Emergency Medicine leader to join our team as a Medical Director
within a large, regional, non-profit, academic health system. This is a chance to lead a dynamic and committed Emergency Medicine team, while being supported by a network of experienced peers, a strong Executive Director, and a collaborative President.
As the Medical Director
, you will have the autonomy to manage your site’s operations, while also benefiting from extensive collaboration with leadership and colleagues. In addition to practicing clinically, you will play a key role in staffing, financial management, performance improvement, and driving quality and safety initiatives.

is a nationally recognized, 501c3 non-profit, proudly providing health care for all! We are contracted with select, partner organizations to provide staffing for Hospital Emergency Departments, Free Standing Emergency Departments, and Urgent Cares throughout the North Central and Northwest regions of North Carolina.
Location:
Concord is located northeast of Charlotte, the largest city in North Carolina. Concord is the second-largest city in the Charlotte Metropolitan Area. This beautiful region of North Carolina has a moderate climate with all four seasons. The city is located in the Piedmont area of North Carolina, which is characterized by rolling hills and forest. The Blue Ridge Mountains and Parkway are a 1-2 hour drive to the north and west, and North Carolina's beaches are close enough to enjoy during long weekends. The region still maintains its Southern roots. Although the region is traditionally Southern in its friendliness, it has an international vibe with an array of festivals and a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment options.

- Emergency Medicine Board Certified / Board Eligible required.
- North Carolina Medical License (or eligibility) required.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
- Develop and implement clinical strategies that align with the organization’s goals and vision for emergency care.
- Lead, mentor, and support physicians, advanced practice providers, and other clinical staff in the emergency department.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical teams and administrative leadership to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous quality improvement within the emergency department.
- Monitor the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinical services in the emergency department.
- Develop and implement protocols, guidelines, and best practices to ensure evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.
- Regularly evaluate clinical performance and implement quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Address patient safety concerns, adverse events, and operational challenges promptly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on healthcare policy changes, accreditation standards, and relevant laws impacting emergency care.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to prepare for audits and regulatory reviews.
- Work with administrative teams to manage budgets, staffing, resources, and operational needs within the emergency department.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of new providers.
- Analyze clinical and operational data to optimize workflows and improve patient outcomes.
- Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives and address patient complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Represent the organization in community outreach programs and at professional events.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including other healthcare organizations, to improve access to emergency care and services.
