Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides optimal patient care, appropriate to the span of ages served, while efficiently operating radiographic equipment for the purpose of producing quality, interpretative radiographs or images for the provision of diagnostic information. The trainee performs while under the supervision and/or direction of Staff Radiologic Technologists and technical supervisors and in accordance with the Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Currently in the second year of the Forsyth Technical Community College's Radiologic Science Program One year of training in the Forsyth Technical Community College's Radiologic Science Program
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Able to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses and other ancillary professional staff when discussing procedures and patient care. Clinical skills to enable recognition and to function accordingly in relation to prioritizing of patient needs. Adaptable to changing work schedules
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards. Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes. Frequently exposed to radiation hazards. Exposed to a variety of electro-mechanical/power equipment. Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals. Subject to hazards of flammable, explosive gases. Subject to injury from moving parts of equipment. Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, and illness). Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Subject to long irregular hours. Clean work area. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Occasional exposure to unpleasant patient or unit elements. Exposure to specimens. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases.

- Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
- Performs diagnostic procedures and operates radiographic equipment effectively and efficiently while under the supervision and/or direction of staff technologists and supervisors.
- Adheres to radiation exposure regulations and practices to ensure adequate radiation protection.
- Ensures accurate patient records via correct data entry, validation and archival of images.
- Provides age-developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age-Developmental Specific Guidelines for the age groups served when participating in patient care.
