Operations Director

Overview

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Director has responsibility for establishing, overseeing, evaluating, and driving management direction for all consulting services related to all elements of the Triad business.

In this capacity, the Operations Director will work closely with the sales teams, Quality Assurance, Strategy and Development, General Manager, and operations teams to drive continued and sustainable growth by securing repeat work (“Winning”) and ensuring flawless execution of projects (“Delivering”) with both new and established customers.

The Operations Director will also be instrumental in fostering an ABM mindset and culture of Continuous Improvement within day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

The Director of Operations is accountable for the following key objectives:

• Scheduling and execution of Service Delivery Projects
• Risk Analysis and approach recommendation for prospective projects
• Development and execution of Service Delivery Project Milestones and Deliverables
• Continuous improvement in operational efficiencies and reductions in cost
• Delivery of projects on time and on budget

The Director of Operations has several specific responsibilities commensurate with the level of this leadership position.

• Leadership: The Director provides leadership and inspiration to their respective teams, ensuring clarity of direction, motivation and development of capability. Advocates and promotes employee engagement and effective communication.
• Financial Performance: Delivers financial performance of the business unit ensuring cost, risk and quality is managed to achieve Revenue, Margin and EBIT targets.
• Business Planning: The Director develops, recommends, evaluates and obtains approval of sound business plans and programs to optimize the department for the short and long term. Included in this will be the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), Goal Deployment, Level 1 KPIs, as well as customer specific opportunity bids and pursuit strategies.
• Project Status, Risk Mitigation: The Director participates in project status meetings, reviewing both schedule and financial performance while providing guidance and action plans as required to mitigate risk.
• Reporting: The Director provides data and reports in a timely manner in support of divisional metrics.
• Capital and Control: The Director directs capital expenditure and asset redeployment activities, controls the human resource cost and growth and provides leadership in the preparation and implementation of effective operating budgets for the Department.
• ATS Reliability Center of Excellence: The Director will strive to leverage best practices across the Triad/ATS Network, driving toward standardization of processes and tools for ATS/Triad Reliability Engineers.
• Continuous Improvement: Successfully driving results in a continuous improvement, data-driven culture. Lead and support the use of the ATS Business Model (ABM) lean tools & principles, driving execution of plans with key performance metrics, daily visual management, problem solving and Kaizen ensuring continuous improvement through accountability and ownership of the team.
• Talent Development and Hiring: The Director selects, develops and motivates the required talent to optimize the organization. The Director is also responsible for staffing, resource planning and performance appraisals of direct reports, developing their teams and establishing succession plans within their organization.
• Compliance: The Director ensures compliance with all pertinent laws relating to health, safety and the environment. The Director is a role model for the ATS code of conduct and quality standards always acting in an ethical manner, ensuring compliance to process and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  
  

Qualifications

• A post-secondary diploma or degree in engineering, business, or other related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership in a production-based environment.
• Computer literacy as applied to manufacturing management.
• Well versed in facility operations, financial management, regulatory compliance, and planning development specific to manufacturing systems.
• Strong communication and presentation skills are required - this position requires maturity, education, presence and competence to achieve credibility and respect within the Company and from professionally qualified customer personnel who are responsible for placing multi-million dollar orders.
• The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading large teams in a project-based and change management environment.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement concepts, tools and methodology.
