Receiving Inspector (LSS Chicago)

The Receiving Inspector will support the goals of Quality Inspection through analysis of incoming materials, fabricated parts, and spare part orders including documentation reviews and generation of related reports and administrative duties. This role will also support in-house qualifications of metrology tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

• Prepare/stage for incoming inspections based on requisition reports and related prints.
• Inspect materials and related documentation to ensure quality and adherence to prints/orders
• Document inspections and/or purchased part related documentation reviews
• Facilitate the creation and distribution of non-conforming material reports as needed.
• Support collection of data related to material and product conformity, supplier performance, and/or other related quality metrics.
• Monitor measurement tool stability through validation/qualification of tools used in inspection and the shop floor.
• Assist inspection with support, consultation, and direction to shop floor, service and project manager’s relative to quality.
• Support and participate in continual improvement activities and programs related to quality and business objectives.
• Assist with maintenance and continuous improvement of the quality system through training and communications.
• Comply with all ATS Company policies and QMS standards.
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree in technical field preferred or equivalent work experience or coursework that aligns with job duties.
• Must be able to use measuring equipment such as bore gauges, calipers and micrometers.
• Working knowledge/understanding of ANSI Y14.5 drawing interpretation and inspection techniques
• Print-reading literacy with introductory level geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) machined part print comprehension.
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with people at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in written form.
• Strong data collection skillset and ability to comply with strict documentation practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• Must be hands-on and able to meet deadlines for their responsibilities either directly or indirectly.
  
  

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
• Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
• Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.
• Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
• Working conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting the manufacturing floor.
• Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
