Med/Surg Telemetry RN

Job Summary:

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse provides direct, comprehensive patient care to individuals recovering from surgery or managing acute/chronic illnesses in a medical-surgical unit. This role involves utilizing the Nursing Process while adhering to hospital standards and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
• Conduct patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and health history evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Administer medications, treatments, and other interventions in accordance with provider orders.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborate with physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge instructions, and medication use.
• Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Record assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in compliance with hospital policies.
• Standards and Compliance:
• Adhere to all applicable State, Federal, and hospital regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized care environment.
• Leadership and Support:
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
• Act as a resource for less experienced staff and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Licensure and Certification:
• Current and unencumbered RN License (state-specific).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (preferred).
• Experience:
• Minimum of 1–2 years in a Med-Surg unit or equivalent experience in acute care settings.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in patient assessments, medication administration, and EMR systems.
• Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills.
