Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) to join our dedicated team. The NNP will provide comprehensive care to normal-to-high risk infants, managing neonatal cases through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures in collaboration with physicians. This role includes delivery room attendance, neonatal resuscitation, procedural care, and ongoing support of neonatal units, as well as patient and family advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for neonatal patients.
- Conduct physical exams and evaluations in Delivery, Neonatal, and Mother-Baby Units.
- Interpret antenatal and perinatal health history; assess gestational age.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and emergency procedures, including:
- Endotracheal intubation
- Cardiac compressions
- IV access and administration of emergency medications
- Conduct specialized procedures such as:
- Umbilical catheterization
- Lumbar puncture
- Needle aspiration of pneumothorax
- Sepsis work-ups
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests including lab work, radiographs, head ultrasounds, and newborn screenings.
- Prescribe phototherapy, nutrition, antimicrobial therapy, and supplements.
- Participate in daily rounds, develop treatment plans, and document patient care.
- Collaborate with attending physicians on patient care plans.
- Educate and support nursing staff; identify learning needs and conduct training.
- Contribute to development and revision of neonatal care standards and protocols.
- Support cost-effective care and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain current competencies, licensing, and certifications to support clinical expertise.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum two (2) years of clinical experience in neonatal care.
Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) required.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) License – Hawaii (required at hire)
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License – Hawaii
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) Certification
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) (required at hire)
