About This Internship
The Engineering Intern at Airborne Maintenance & Engineering Services, Inc. (AMES) will play an integral role in aircraft repairs, modifications, and engineering analysis. AMES, a subsidiary of Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), specializes in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services, supporting a global customer base. This internship is ideal for students pursuing Engineering or a related field, offering opportunities to develop repair solutions, review compliance documentation, and support aircraft certification efforts.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in designing repair and modification solutions for aircraft systems and structures
· Conduct engineering analysis and substantiation for repair approvals
· Support the development of technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and specifications
· Ensure compliance with Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and FAA/OEM requirements
· Collaborate with internal departments and external customers on certification and project coordination
· Provide on-call operational and project support as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Microsoft Project
· Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting applications
· Familiarity with FAA compliance criteria, including Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins
· Strong communication and project management skills
Preferred Skills & Experience
· Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related field
· Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, repair, or overhaul operations
· Experience or coursework related to regulatory compliance and aviation engineering
