ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision.
The HR Assistant/Recruiter plays an essential role in our HR Department of four, recruiting for ATTIC Residential programs (50%), assisting with implementation and administration of agency policies and procedures, and supporting the HR Manager and team with the execution of HR initiatives and functions.
The HR Assistant/Recruiter will assist in the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, on-boarding, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Facilitate job postings, screen applications and select qualified candidates, typically for 10-12 active postings in a given week.
Schedule interviews; oversee preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials
Perform necessary background and reference checks
Assist with the development and implementation of strategies for improving recruitment and staffing levels, applicant evaluation, interview and selection process, and related tasks
Collaborate with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
Collaborate with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, understanding and following contract salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details
Assist with administrative HR tasks such as employment verification, maintaining filing systems and employment records
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance
Assist with employee relations and benefits administration as needed
Attend and participate in college job fairs and recruiting sessions

SHRM-CP, PHR or Associates Degree in Human Resources or closely related field strongly preferred
Minimum of two to three years of experience in Human Resources and Recruitment
Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws
Valid Wisconsin drivers license, with good driving record
Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to establish, maintain, and coordinate effective working relationships with all levels of staff, vendors, and the general public
Evidence of excellent organizational and time management abilities
Strong attention to detail
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Additional experience working with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality of all agency information
Self-motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision
High degree of demonstrated decision making and problem solving
Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures
Ability to exercise sound decisions and judgment
Limited travel required
