Job Description:
ATTORNEYS' TITLE FUND SERVICES
In this position, you will successfully progress through an on-the-job training program, for up to 12 months, with the goal of learning basic to moderate mapping skills including knowledge of legal descriptions, property documents, and the Fund’s title plant standards to accurately map and post acreage legal descriptions into the title plant. Learns to accurately research and resolve basic mapping issues.
Some of the responsibilities will be:
- Progressively learn how to obtain and utilize basic to moderate knowledge of legal descriptions, property documents and the Fund’s title plant standards to map and post legal descriptions into the title plant to include:
- Accurately research and interpret public records documents.
- Read and accurately interpret all types of legal descriptions.
- Accurately apply Fund standards for title plant mapping and posting.
- Identify and resolve replats and other discrepancies to ensure the correct information is posted into the title plant. Use problem solving to learn new skills and increase mapping knowledge.
- Manually map legal descriptions onto to paper code sheet maps.
- Utilize the basic Plat and Replat mapping process.
- Utilize the basic grid building process.
- Use ArcGIS/ICOMAP to map legal descriptions in the Fund’s GIS environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experiences we are looking for:
- Job experiences that demonstrate the ability to learn progressive job tasks in a production environment is preferred.
- ArcGIS or Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) experience is preferred.
- Public records, property documents and legal descriptions is preferred.
- Knowledge of Public Land Survey System is preferred.
- Knowledge of Cadastral maps/surveys preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Basic math skills including the ability to apply basic geometry and curves to mapping assignments.
- Ability learn and use protractors and engineering scales during mapping.
- Ability to learn to map legal descriptions on paper and in GIS system.
- Ability to learn new information and build knowledge over time.
- Ability to plan and organize work to meet goals.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify problems and provide resolutions.
- Ability to work effectively with members, team members and mentors.
- Ability to work in a time sensitive production environment.
- Ability to learn and master software applications.
- Knowledge of the title insurance and information industry is preferred
