Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing Assistant Teacher to join our team in providing quality education and care for young children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood development and experience in a daycare or preschool setting. This role involves supporting lead teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and educational environment for children ages 2 to 3, particularly those with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans that promote learning and development in accordance with curriculum standards.
- Provide attentive care to toddlers and preschool-aged children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Engage children in educational activities that foster their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Support children with different abilities by employing tailored strategies to enhance their learning experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress and daily activities.
- Participate in classroom management, ensuring a positive atmosphere for all students.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute engaging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Assist with set-up, clean up, and break down of daily activities indoors and outdoors.
- Assist with snack preparation as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous experience in childcare, daycare, or preschool settings is preferred.
- 12 ECE/Child Development-Education units or in a related field.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and practices is essential.
- Familiarity with lesson planning and educational activities suitable for young children.
- Experience working with children with different abilities is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff members.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- A nurturing attitude towards children with the ability to manage classroom dynamics positively.
- Other California community care licensing requirements must be met.
