We are seeking a mid-level Manufacturing Quality Engineer for a mechatronic company in Rocklin, CA. The Quality Engineer will have a strong customer focus and have the desire to drive quality investigations and improvements, and be a contributor to new product development programs. The Quality Engineer will also be responsible for the overall management of incoming, in-process and final inspection, along with RMA activities and projects and support Supplier Quality activities
Primary Responsibilities
Customer Quality
- Represents the company when addressing key customer quality issues. Ensures effective, timely communication and complete problem resolution.
- Present findings and actions from RMA investigations via 8D, 5WHY and other forms of reporting methods
- Maintains and improves the corporate RMA process to enhance labor efficiency, reduce warranty costs, and optimize RMA cycle time.
Operations Quality
Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma / Lean) to improve the performance of the company’s products.Support MRB inventory and scrap reduction effortsSupplier Quality
Communicate confirmed / suspected supplier quality issues and drive to full resolution through supplier.Manage APQP / PPAP activities within the supply chain.Quality Control
Monitor, track and report Daily inspection throughput (Incoming and Outgoing)Perform inspection to IPC / WMH requirements.Define sampling plans according to product risk.Perform and maintain First Article Inspection Reports and other product Qualification documentation.CMM Programming and Operating (highly desired)NPI Quality Engineering
Lead part qualifications both internally and within the supply chainAssist in engineering to production transfers.Provide product compliance certification support.Participate and facilitate D / PFMEAsSupports engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.Ensures that customers’ product specifications are analyzed to establish efficient, cost-effective requirements for ease of manufacture and reproducibility.Train manufacturing and inspection personnel as required.Manages root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements within manufacturing, materials, engineering, and planning.Ensures ISO 9001 and 13482 (desired) is maintained and continually drive quality system improvements.Ensures that procedures for process control, process improvement, test and inspection are controlled and followed.Collect and analyze data to predict trends that will affect the improvement of product quality.General Tasks
Strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and environmental regulations.Implementation of the instructions of the quality / environmental management representative and the occupational safety specialist.QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Engineer or equivalentBS degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical, or manufacturing engineering, or similar experienceSupplier Quality experience is highly desired.CMM experience is highly desired.Supplier Audits / SurveyPPAP, APQP, D / PFMEA and Gage R & RMust demonstrate the ability to show initiative and commitment as well as readily adapt to changing requirements.Able to work from specifications, technical manuals, schematics, and verbal / written instructions.Ability to discuss technical problems encountered with customers, engineering and senior management team.Experience with ERP systems, Oracle exp. a plus.Company Description
