What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metallurgy Field Specialist position at AtWork Personnel Services?
We are seeking a Foundry Manager (Supervisor) to play a crucial role in providing turnkey manufacturing solutions to industrial clients that work with metal and plastic components.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience managing foundry operations, including casting, molding, and pouring processes. This role involves working on-site with both customers and suppliers to identify and solve problems effectively.
This role appears to be a hybrid position, combining foundry management responsibilities with technical and customer-facing tasks. While it could be considered an operations role, it’s not purely engineering in the traditional sense of designing, building, or managing systems.
Position Highlights:
- Lead foundry operations, overseeing casting, molding, and metal pouring processes.
- Collaborate directly with customers to ensure metal components are designed for optimal manufacturability.
- Assess and recommend the best manufacturing processes or metallurgical options from prototyping to production.
- Identify and troubleshoot part quality issues, working with foundry and machining facilities to achieve desired results.
- Perform audits of off-site foundries and other suppliers.
- Support account managers by providing technical expertise to enhance their sales efforts.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in engineering solutions to drive profitability.
- Direct experience managing ferrous and non-ferrous foundry processes.
- Expertise in metal casting, molding, and pouring operations.
- Experience in defect analysis of castings.
- Expertise in nondestructive examinations of metal parts (e.g., Visual, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Radiography, Pressure, and Ultrasonic testing).
- Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to perform effectively under high pressure and stressful situations.
- A strong drive to succeed.
- Effective organizational skills.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
