Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of canine behavior and training techniques, with the ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. This role involves developing training programs tailored to individual dogs and their owners, ensuring a positive learning environment that promotes effective communication and strengthens the bond between pets and their owners.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement customized training programs for dogs, focusing on obedience, behavior modification, and socialization.
- Conduct one-on-one training sessions with dog owners, providing guidance on proper handling techniques and training methods.
- Assess each dog's behavior and progress, adjusting training plans as necessary to meet individual needs.
- Maintain a safe and positive training environment for both dogs and their owners.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and concerns regarding dog behavior and training.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians or other professionals as needed to ensure the well-being of the dogs in training.
- Keep detailed records of each dog's progress and communicate updates to clients regularly.
- Willing to provide one on one lessons or board and trains.
- Must own home if conducting board and trains.
Experience
- Previous experience in dog handling or training is preferred; experience as a veterinary technician or in animal handling is a plus.
- Familiarity with various training methods, including positive reinforcement techniques And balanced training, ecollar and prong collar experience is helpful.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with dog owners.
- Experience in related fields such as pet grooming, kennel management, or equine care can be beneficial.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, particularly when handling larger breeds or equipment used in training sessions.
