PSYCHOMETRIST - 204 CONTRACT DAYS
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B. S. in Education or Certification in School Psychometry.
- Computer proficiency.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective communication. Ability to write reports with proficiency. Ability to deal with irate and/or frustrated parents. Ability to diffuse tense situations and conflicts. Organizational and problem solving skills.

Special Education Director
JOB GOAL
To evaluate and assess educational and emotional needs of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- (1) Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the test setting.
- (2) Exhibits positive human relations skills.
- (3) Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
- (4) Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
- (5) Maintains and submits records and reports.
- (6) Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
- (7) Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
- (8) Assesses referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
- (9) Administers tests to and participates in meetings to determine placement of exceptional students.
- (10) Assists in the identification of exceptional students.
- (11) Provides data for the tracking system for special education.
- (12) Confers with teachers and parents/guardians.
- (13) Interprets the school psychological services to students, teachers, parents/guardians, and administrators.
- (14) Complies with other directives / requests from the Special Education Director.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
