Job Summary
The College of Human Sciences is recruiting for a TES Clinical Child Life Specialist . This role will provide information, education, support and guidance to parents, siblings and other family members. Promotes effective coping and play, preparation, education, bereavement support and self-expression activities. Provides emotional support for families and encourages optimum development of children facing a broad range of challenging experiences, particularly those related to healthcare and hospitalization. This position specifically encompasses work in the Emergency Department, Pediatric Unit, Radiology and NICU at a community-based hospital serving both pediatric and adult patients.
Temporary Employment Services ( TES ), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being :
- Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
- Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
- Assistance with special projects
- Seasonal work
- Emergencies

Essential Functions
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of family systems theory; of the developmental effects of stress and trauma on children and interventions to alleviate distress; a working knowledge of medical diagnoses and procedures and their relationship to children's behavior and development; broad based knowledge regarding the special needs of children with chronic or disabling conditions; knowledge of play activities and therapeutic interventions; and an in depth knowledge of body of research relating to children in health care settings.
