JOB SUMMARY
Basic cash operating procedures which entail counting and documenting cash that is given or received via customer or vault transactions. Negotiate cash items, deposits, withdrawals and loan payments. Assist customers with account-related questions or refer them to other lobby personnel.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE SKILLS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Count and document cash received
- Ensure proper balancing of cash drawer and accuracy of transactions
- Accept deposits and withdrawals on checking and savings accounts
- Accept payments on loans and safe deposit boxes
- Assist customers with discrepancies on their accounts; Prepare proper documentation for discrepancies or refer to CSR
- Complete all daily and monthly duties
- Secure cash drawer at all times
- Maintain proper level of cash in drawer
- Watch for stop payment, restriction, dormant, delay of availability and other messages on teller machines
- Accept requests for phone transfers
- Sell postage stamps
- Issue official checks and money orders
- Backup for mutilated currency
- Assist with balancing of vault
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Cash handling preferred
ORGANIZATION
- Duty and responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning possible methods to improve department
FINANCES
- Responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning the budgetary needs of the department
RELATIONSHIPS
- Responsible to Head Teller/Asst. Branch Manager/Branch Manager for the fulfillment of functions, responsibilities, and authority and for their proper interpretation
- Extensive contact with customers and the public; Conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall marketing effort of the bank
- May be called upon from time to time to participate with community organizations and projects

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Good communication and listening skills; ability to read and write clearly and effectively
- Ability to use logic in problem solving
- Working knowledge of general office equipment (computer, fax machine, telephone, copier, typewriter, etc.) including CRT terminal
- Requires extended periods of sitting or standing
- Requires frequent bending or stooping
- Ability to transport/lift up to 50lbs
- Ability to use basic math skills
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range
- Ability to learn and retain knowledge
