Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Para Educator to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and development, particularly those with special needs. This position involves working closely with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals. A strong background in early childhood education or literacy education is preferred, along with skills in behavior management and effective communication.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and adapting materials to meet the needs of individual students.
- Support students with IEPs by providing tailored instruction and encouragement.
- Foster a positive learning environment through effective behavior management techniques.
- Communicate regularly with teachers regarding student progress and any challenges faced.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create inclusive educational experiences for all students.
- Engage in literacy education activities to enhance students' reading and writing skills.
- Provide support for children with autism, ensuring their unique needs are met within the classroom setting.
- Assist in lesson planning and preparation of educational materials.
- Utilize American Sign Language as needed to support communication with students.
Experience
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with IEP development and implementation is a plus.
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum or those with behavioral challenges is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration with teachers, parents, and students.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies to support student engagement and success.
- Experience in private school settings is beneficial but not required.
