What You’ll Do
This position performs highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work
involved with electrical systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas including
heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment to ensure the safety and efficiency of all electrical equipment with Audubon Zoo and Park.
Day to Day Responsibilities
• Make daily rounds to ensure proper operation of all equipment.
• Make any electrical repairs needed to exhibits throughout both the Zoo and Park.
• Responsible for repairs, preventative maintenance and record keeping of all lighting systems throughout both the Zoo and Park.
• Responsible for the installation and maintenance of any special in-house projects, including construction of new systems or exhibits.
• Respond to all assigned work requests in a timely manner.
• Assist Pumps department as requested by Director of Facilities.
• Must be willing to take continuing education courses as deemed necessary.
• Must attend all mandatory safety trainings.
• Must adhere to all regulations regarding animal safety and care.
• Must be available to work weekends as needed.
• Must be on call at all times when not on property.

What We’re Looking For
Must Haves: (required for the role)
• Minimum of five years experience as a certified electrician
• High school diploma
• Must hold a class D certification. Class A certification preferred, and must be obtained within the one year of employment
• Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computer, fax, scanner, phone and copy machine. Forklift, insulator tester, amp probe, and voltage finder knowledge preferred.
• proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Outlook
Physical Requirements: (Add per list provided based on role type)
• Must be able to exert up to 75 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
• Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required.
• Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.
• Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
• Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
• Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.
