Job title: Electrochemical Technician
(non-coating)
Purpose
Electrochemical Technician can safely and effectively operate mixing, roll to roll calendaring, and slitting equipment. This includes the understanding of the critical to quality aspects of electrode and how that quality of the electrode impacts the performance of the final cells and batteries made. The equipment required to understand, and master is chemical mixing, calendaring, and/or slitting.
Responsibilities
- Learn advanced electrode processing equipment which may include mixing, calendaring, and slitting. Standard training is two weeks to two months.
- Properly wear and maintain PPE which include PAPRs, coveralls, gloves, and steel toed shoes
- Learn advanced electrode and assembly operations at an above average rate. Standard training is six months. This position is expected to be mastered in 3-4 months.
- Ability to properly use calipers, micrometers, mass balances, and feeler gauges.
- Disciplined to be meticulous in the set-up of precision equipment (microns) which includes start-up, routine monitoring, changeover, and respond to upset conditions.
- Properly setup web handling machines to carefully process thin foils.
- Perform Testing of the quality of the product which may include liquid emulsions and painted foil. Expected to identify and properly quarantine all visual defects.
- Maintain the equipment per the requirements for preventative maintenance protocols.
- Basic clerical skills to record production & measurement on paper, SQL, and MES systems
- To have the knowledge and understanding when to halt production to; Protect the equipment/tooling
- Protect material and product
- Quarantine suspect material and product
- Reporting and recording records of approved or defective units and final product
- Willingness to learn and retain knowledge of the basic work instructions for all unit operations by interacting with operators & engineers as needed to support all activities.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Background in manufacturing of chemicals, coatings and/or web handling.
- High School Diploma; Associate degree/trade school preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable working with complex equipment.
- Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment with multiple processes and priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented.
