Job Summary
Responsible for learning the requirements of due diligence inspections, the varying levels of due diligence reporting, understanding of Landowner Liability Protections, Phase II investigations, Health & Safety requirements including Health and Safety Plan (HASP) preparation; soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling, excavation oversight, UST closure oversight, contractor management, internal project work flow, and other technical field programs. The Transaction Specialist reports to the Practice Leader or Senior Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education: B.S, in geology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field
Recommended Experience: Entry level – 2 years
Certifications: OSHA Hazwoper Certification (40 hours) is a plus
Skills: Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills
Additional requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and capable of operating vehicles safely
This classification requires travel to various client locations resulting in occasional longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Learn the Transaction administrative process and project workflow
- Assist with coordinating work with site contacts
- Learn site safety of project task standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Prepare Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)
- Participate in Project kick-off meetings with Project Managers, or at the direction of Project Managers
- Understand and apply safety considerations for projects
- Complete the Transaction Training Program
- Learn and assist with entry level site inspections
- Learn and assist with technical writing and reporting formats
- Learn Phase II and Development Services field work
- Learn Building Science field work relevant to due diligence work (lead in water, paint chip, targeted asbestos sampling)
- Learn technical and regulatory framework for Due Diligence and Development Services projects
- Complete project support tasks such as scheduling with site contacts
- Coordinate with contractors
- Communicate with clients, as requested
- Learn job-related material primarily through shadowing, verbal instruction, training, reading, researching and observation in an on-the-job setting
- Ability to document and organize while working on multiple projects
- Skills in technical writing
- Interpret geologic and hydrogeologic information and scientific data
