Job Summary
The Site Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and supporting the August Mack internal Corporate Health and Safety Program. Their role is essential in ensuring the company provides a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, both in offices and on job sites, along with minimizing risk for the company. This position reports to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager.
Essential Job Functions
Education: B.S. in occupational safety or related field
Recommended Experience: 2 years of experience in health and safety
Certifications: (Beneficial but not required prior to employment) 40-hour Hazardous Waste Site Operation (HAZWOPER), First Aid (FA)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), 10-hr Construction, Asbestos Inspector/Management Planner, Respiratory Fit Test/Protection, and Confined Space Entry certifications
Skills: Strong verbal/written communication
Additional requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and physically capable of operating vehicles safely

The Site Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and supporting the August Mack internal Corporate Health and Safety Program. Their role is essential in ensuring the company provides a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, both in offices and on job sites, along with minimizing risk for the company. This position reports to the Corporate Health and Safety Manager.
Essential Job Functions
- Conduct comprehensive safety inspections at various job sites to identify potential hazards
- Prepare and submit all required health and safety documentation, including reports and compliance forms, to relevant regulatory agencies and internal departments
- Examine and evaluate Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and best practices
- Develop and deliver engaging and informative training sessions on various health and safety topics to ensure all employees are aware of safety protocols and procedures.
- Facilitate health and safety orientation for new hires, covering all essential health and safety information and protocols
- Participate in project kick-off meetings to discuss and integrate health and safety considerations into project planning and execution.
- Collaborate with the Tank Services team in the removal and installation of underground storage tanks and ensure all safety measures are in place during these operations.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to Avetta and IS Networld to maintain compliance with contractor management systems and client requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and preventive measures
