Job Summary
Responsible for management, development, and supervision of personnel within the Technical Report Writing Group and management and writing of due diligence reports. This includes preparing technical reports to support due diligence-related and other projects, overall management of due diligence reporting, general QA/QC, training, management and development of reporting templates and language libraries, and serving as the point of contact for Transaction Services and other service areas for whom reports are being produced.
Reports to the Principal of Technical Services. Transaction-related work is performed under the direction of an Environmental Site Assessor (assessor) and Practice Leader; other work is performed under the direction of the assigning service area Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education: B.S. in geology, engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or related field
Recommended Experience: 5 years of experience in technical report writing in environmental due diligence consulting
Skills: Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must
Additional requirements: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
This classification requires travel to various client locations. Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required.
80% office (controlled environment), 20% client/site travel (environmental job hazards)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform personnel management and administrative oversight for all positions within the Technical Report Writing Group
- Monitor the Transaction report queue and ensure adequate resources are available to complete all reports in a timely manner
- Oversee quality and accuracy of reports
- Supervise changes, updates, and additions to report templates
- Prepare, review, proofread, and modify technical environmental reports in accordance with applicable ASTM standards or client’s scope of work
- Perform limited QA/QC review of reports and maintain EP signature authority
- Work on higher level, special projects
- Provide report/research related training and support to entry level staff
- Provide figures, photographs, and supporting documentation to illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of reports
- Review and summarize previous assessment reports, historical and regulatory records, and other documents related to site investigation and remediation (LUST, SCP, VRP, RCRA, etc.)
- Conduct interviews with property owners, occupants, key site personnel and local government officials to obtain information concerning the environmental conditions related to a property
- Recognize and identify environmental concerns based on information provided by the assessor from research and interviews
- Maintain communication with the assessor and/or Principal to keep them informed of any actual or potential concerns including continuous updates of when assigned tasks are to be completed
- Perform regulatory and technical research as needed to support a project
- Interpret geologic and hydrogeologic information and chemical data
- Understand geologic setting and contaminant transport
- Proficient knowledge of:
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Standard – ASTM E 1527
- Phase II Environmental Site Assessment Standard – ASTM E1903
- Regulatory cleanup programs and guidance
- Waste regulations
- Recognize hazards inherent to environmental work and safety measures
- Learn job-related material primarily through verbal instruction, training, reading, researching and observation in an on-the-job setting
