Geographic Information Systems Technician
The County of Augusta is accepting applications for the Geographic Information Systems Technician position.
The GIS Technician plays a critical role in developing and maintaining the GIS system; researching, preparing, editing, and maintaining cadastral and digitized land-based features; preparing and maintaining files and records; and preparing maps. This position will perform routine compilation, editing, maintenance, extraction, and application of geographic data; revising features of existing maps and charts as instructed and corrects simple maps in various stages of compilation. Will generate 911 addresses by gathering and processing GPS fieldwork from Building Inspections.
This position will answer calls from residents concerning addresses; assists in research and interpretation of land records from multiple sources; provides designated geographic information to interested parties in support of the countywide geographic information system and provide help desk support.
The preferred candidate will have graduated from an accredited community college with major course work in cartography, geography or related field and some experience in the use of geographic information systems. The salary range is $51,094 - $56,203. The County offers an excellent benefits package.
