Seasonal Park Tech I
Enjoy working outside in the summer in a park atmosphere; The County of Augusta has several openings for part time-seasonal maintenance positions. These positions are assigned to the Facilities Management Department, and reports to the Grounds and Park Facility Supervisor. Tasks includes grounds keeping, general facility repairs, and custodial services for the county’s parks and public facilities. Position responsibilities will be critical in preparing parks, recreational facilities, easements and other County owned property for use by the public.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Applicant must have the ability to:
- Follow oral and written directions.
- Abide by and enforce established safety rules and regulations.
- Complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently and timely.
- Perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials and the public.
Essential Duties:
- Assist with keeping park facilities, grounds, buildings, campground, trails, and easements safe, clean and attractive.
- Assist with construction, repair and maintenance of park facilities, buildings, campground, trails, and easements.
- Assist with custodial duties at park facilities and campground.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by specific job task.
- Work well with others
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Be attentive to detail.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Applicant should have a general knowledge of grounds keeping, maintenance, and custodial duties. Applicant should be able to provide examples of self-motivation and the ability to prioritize.
Valid VA driver’s license is required.
Salary/Benefits:
This position is a part time - seasonal position with no County benefits. Hiring salary is $14.27 per hour. The work schedule is typically 3-4 days per week, 7am-3:30pm, with weekend hours required between May 1 and October 31 for special events or as needed.
Candidate will have to go through a criminal background check and drug screening. DMV driving record will be requested at time of employment, if applicable.
