What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Mechanic I ** $2,000 Sign-on Bonus position at Augusta Health?
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems and Equipment at the Main Hospital building, AHOPP Building and as well as all satellite facilities. Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs various types of heating, ventilation. air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Participates in the hospital preventive maintenance (PM) program. This is a daylight position and may require covering other shifts as needed.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Formal HVAC System Training in air conditioning and refrigeration systems from a Vocational School or Military Technical School preferred.
Water Cooled Chiller Training from equipment manufacturers such as Trane, Daiken, McQuay or Carrier preferred.
Licensure / Certification
Team members hired into this role on or after June 1, 2023, must hold a current HVAC Mechanic License as issued by the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) at the Journeyman's level required.
May hold an EPA Certification (Universal Level) for refrigerant handling preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years commercial or industrial facility operations and maintenance (O&M) experience required.
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess basic HVAC skill sets.
- Must be able to read blueprints and other technical documentation.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting & repairs on a wide variety of Facility Infrastructure Systems including HVAC Systems and air compressors and air dryers.
- Must be able to troubleshoot electrical circuits pertaining to HVAC & R equipment.
- Must possess basic HVAC skill sets.
- Must be able to read blueprints and other technical documentation.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting & repairs on a wide variety of Facility Infrastructure Systems including HVAC Systems and air compressors and air dryers.
- Must be able to troubleshoot electrical circuits pertaining to HVAC & R equipment.
- Basic computer keyboard skills necessary for sending and receiving e-mails and entering work status updates for assigned work orders.
- Must have a working knowledge of computerized building automation systems (Siemens or equal) and be able to recognize HVAC System abnormalities due to mechanical or electrical malfunctions.
- Demonstrated skills with O&M of stand-alone HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, heaters and boilers.
- Teamwork and Collaboration :
o Works independently and as a member of a work team. This job is part of a formal work team within the Plant Services Facility Maintenance Department.
o The HVAC I is a team member, but is not responsible or accountable for the team's activities.
