What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Office Billing Specialist position at Augusta Pediatric Associates?
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced insurance specialist to join our team. The idea candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding. The primary responsibility will be to review claims for accuracy, timeliness and correctness of payment from payers and rebilling, appealing as appropriate to resolve claims and/or payer errors.
Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance coverage and eligibility for patients
- Process insurance claims accurately
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and appeal as necessary to ensure timely reimbursements for services provided
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and coding requirements
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding insurance-related inquiries
- Provide excellent customer service to patients regarding insurance questions and concerns
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to resolve insurance-related issues
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed
- Post payments/ adjustments and resolve credit balance
-Manage account receivables to maintain payments in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Experience with insurance verification and claims processing
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information
-No difficulty of movement to navigate around the workspace efficiently, including the ability to climb stairs daily and carrying out other tasks throughout the office
-Sufficient strength to lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds safely
