JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of National Sales and Business Development will lead the strategic growth and management of the independent bookstore sales channel within the licensed sales division. This role oversees a nationwide team of independent sales representatives and manages a Partnership Sales Lead, ensuring that both teams meet and exceed revenue targets and growth objectives. The Director will act as a senior strategic partner to external sales representatives, providing guidance, insights, and solutions to optimize performance. Internally, the role collaborates with leadership across business units to drive initiatives that align with overall company goals. The Director will also focus on opening and growing new key accounts while identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including market expansion and partnership development, to support long-term company growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as required):
- Lead and mentor independent sales representatives and the Partnership Sales Lead, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering exceptional customer support.
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to optimize revenue growth in the independent bookstore channel.
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with key partners and stakeholders, supporting their long-term success.
- Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within both existing and new markets.
- Collaborate with the VP of Licensed Sales to define and pursue strategic business development initiatives.
- Partner with internal teams, including customer service, marketing, product development, and finance, to streamline processes and align on objectives.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to inform decision-making and drive performance improvements.
- Present regular performance reports and strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to strengthen brand presence and expand partnerships.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

- Proven experience in a senior sales or business development role, preferably within the independent bookstore or licensed sales industry.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing remote sales teams.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making and performance optimization.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience in apparel, headwear, and/or sports industry is preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to support business initiatives and attend industry events.
