What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chef at Childcare Center position at Augustana Early Learning Center?
Summary
CHILDCARE CHEF (F/T) with Augustana Early Learning Center (AELC)
Responsible for planning, preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to the children in the Center, as well as upholding excellent kitchen sanitation and cleanliness. The Cook must also help complete mandatory Child & Adult Food Program (CACFP) paperwork daily and/or monthly as required.
Candidates considering applying must be able to embrace and model this philosophy in their day-to-day responsibilities and demonstrate our standards: professional, responsive, dependable and engaged.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:30 am-2pm (30-minute lunch break)
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Duties
1. Prepare hot/cold food as scheduled with the posted menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
2. A strong attention to detail as we follow menu specifications as required by the CACFP.
3. Maintain proper portion controls per menu & CACFP specifications, and maintain safe food portions for our youngest children
4. Maintain all assigned work areas ensuring cleanliness
5. Maintain kitchen equipment.
6. Keep all food used in the kitchen area safe and properly stored.
7. Clean and sanitize all dishes and kitchen area.
8. Follow established procedures in relation to safety and sanitation as established by Colorado Department of Public Health & the Environment
9. Practice personal hygiene and grooming standards.
10. Dress in a way that is comfortable & functional for the role, but meets AELC?s professional standards (close-toe shoes, no visible undergarments, etc.)
11. Prepare grocery orders and other supplies that may be needed for all over the Center.
12. Create menu at least one month in advance so that it may be published for families
13. Consistent and timely attendance on all scheduled work days. We encourage planned time off; unplanned absences should be extremely infrequent.
14. Willingness to learn and a strong sense of pride and responsibility for your work product!

1. Education or training: High school diploma required.
2. Years of experience in the field: Prefer a minimum of six months? experience in the field of food service or nutrition with toddlers & preschool children.

- Able to prepare large quantities of food at each meal.
- Prepare menu items for each meal based upon the USDA Food Grant Standards and Policies.
- Must be able to multitask between food duties and administrative responsibilities.
- Must have a vehicle with valid license and insurance to shop for center food and supplies.
- Exhibit positive social skills and customer service skills while dealing with parents, staff, distributors, colleagues and/or students.
