What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Co-Lead Toddler Teacher position at Augustana Early Learning Center?
Summary
The Augustana Early Learning Center (the Center) is an outreach ministry of the Augustana Lutheran Church (the Church) that welcomes all children regardless of faith, culture or ethnicity. The Center provides care for children in a clean, safe and nurturing environment that promotes learning and enhances the child’s well-being. We are seeking another Lead Toddler teacher to support our toddler room (alongside our fantastic current teacher). The ideal candidate is nurturing, energetic and passionate about working toddler-age children!
Duties
- Assist in developing and executing a creative program suitable for toddler children
- Nurturing each child’s well-being and support their learning
- Facilitate daily development of the children (storytelling, music, educational play, etc.)
- Observe each child to increase social competencies and build self-esteem at age appropriate levels
- Encourage children to interact positively with other similar aged children
- Organize nap and meal hours and supervise children to ensure they are always safe
- Responsible for hygiene practices for children (i.e., washing hands, proper bathroom procedures and diapering, snack and lunch routines.)
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe classroom environment consistent with health and safety standards
- Responsible for sanitary conditions in the classrooms (i.e., washing tables, toys, chairs, and learning centers.)
- Daily communication with parents about their child
- Familiar with Colorado licensing rules and regulations for Child Care Centers
Requirements
- This position requires the physical ability to engage with children at their level. This includes assuming low postures such as kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, and sitting on the ground.
- Able to work with the children in the classroom setting and outdoors on the playground
- Comfortable with soothing children who may be new to group care/comfort children when crying
- Regular attendance is essential for this position.
- Ability to lift 35lbs.
- Have successfully completed all coursework to qualify as a Lead Teacher, or be currently working towards completing that coursework.
- Hours for this role: 8:00AM-5:00PM
Nice To Haves
- Full-time schedule preferred, but would consider a consistent part-time schedule.
- Bachelors Degree preferred.
