Augustana University invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach – Men’s Basketball. This 12-month position supports all aspects of coaching the NCAA Division II men’s basketball program, including recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination, and practice/game coaching. The role involves fostering a positive training environment, promoting team building, accountability, and the well-being of student-athletes. Additional duties include assisting the head coach with day-to-day operations and managing the team, including coaching defense/offense and recruiting student-athletes.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in all aspects of the student-athlete development and performance of the men’s basketball program.
- Assist with organizing and leading preseason and off-season conditioning.
- Assessment and recruitment of student-athletes with excellent academic background to a NCAA Division II institution.
- Assist in scouting and in-season film evaluation and breakdown.
- Assist the head coach in preparation of a competitive team schedule.
- Support with the head coach in coordinating camps, clinics, and fundraising activities.
- Monitor academic progress and eligibility for the men’s basketball program
- Serve as a leader, mentor, and role model to the student-athletes of the program.
- Abide by NCAA and NSIC rules and regulations.
- Assist in continued development of positive public relations with alumni and the community.
- Attend department meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a head or assistant basketball coach is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Collegiate coaching and recruiting experience preferred.
