What are the responsibilities and job description for the Club Men's Soccer Head Coach position at Augustana University?
Augustana University invites applications for the position of Club Men’s Soccer Head Coach. This 29-hour per week, nine-month position plays the leadership role in administrative, instructional, academic and recruiting services for the men’s club soccer team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the club soccer program as well as additional responsibilities as assigned within the recreational services department.
The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Direct the day-to-day operations of the Club Men’s Soccer Program
- Coordinate club member activities including but not limited to recruiting, conditioning, and academic services as needed.
- Support, abide and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, recreational services department and Club Soccer program to insure academic progress of the student club members.
- Direct the administrative functions of the Club Men’s Soccer program.
- Perform duties with professional conduct, being fiscally responsible and with a commitment to student club member well-being.
- Abide by all written policies, procedures, and guidelines of Augustana University and the Recreational Services department.
- Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with recreational services staff, University staff, students, and all constituencies and stakeholders.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Recreational Services Director.
Qualifications for this position:
- A bachelor’s degree is required; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Preference will be given to those with experience specific to coaching soccer.
- Former soccer student-athlete is preferred is preferred.
- Minimum three years coaching experience in the sport of soccer as well as previous coaching experience in a collegiate level program preferred as an Assistant or Head Coach is preferred.
- Experience in recruiting academically sound, qualified students is helpful.
- Must be able to work varying hours which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
