Augustana University seeks a University Registrar to provide strategic leadership in academic records management, registration services, and curriculum coordination. Reporting to the Provost, the University Registrar ensures the integrity of student records, supports institutional policies, and advances student success initiatives across a growing portfolio of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. With Augustana’s expansion in online and hybrid graduate programs, the Registrar plays a pivotal role in adapting processes and technology (including AI tools) to meet evolving academic needs.
Key Responsibilities:
The University Registrar oversees all aspects of student enrollment, academic records, and course scheduling, ensuring a seamless and student-centered experience. The Registrar leads the development and maintenance of secure, efficient, and technology-driven registration and record-keeping systems, ensuring compliance with university policies and external accreditation standards.
In collaboration with deans, faculty, and student support services, the Registrar ensures accurate degree audits, manages transfer credit evaluations, and plays a key role in retention and student success initiatives. The position is responsible for academic standing determinations, including probation and suspension processes, working closely with advisors and student affairs staff to support student persistence and graduation.
The Registrar oversees the construction of course schedules and works with faculty leadership to align offerings with student demand while managing classroom assignments and instructional space utilization. Additionally, the Registrar provides the Provost and institutional leadership with critical academic data, including grading trends, course enrollments, and faculty loads, to inform strategic planning.
As Augustana expands its graduate and professional programs, the Registrar is instrumental in developing policies and systems to support online and hybrid learning, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements while maintaining operational efficiency. The Registrar also plays a lead role in degree conferrals and academic catalog management, ensuring students and faculty have clear, accessible information about degree pathways and curriculum changes.
Beyond operational oversight, the Registrar serves as a key advisor on academic policies and represents the university on institutional committees, including the Undergraduate and Graduate Curriculum Councils, working to align academic policies with best practices in higher education. The role also involves maintaining NCAA compliance for student-athlete eligibility and supporting institutional accreditation efforts.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
- Significant experience in academic records management, student registration, or enrollment services in a higher education setting.
- Expertise in student information systems, enrollment technologies, and data reporting tools (e.g., Jenzabar, Navigate, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of academic policies, curriculum structures, and regulatory compliance in higher education.
- Demonstrated leadership in process improvement, technology (including AI) implementation, and cross-campus collaboration.
- Ability to interpret and apply academic policies, enrollment strategies, and student success initiatives to support institutional goals.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to student-centered service.
