Augustine Consulting, Inc. is a Woman-Owned Small Business professional services provider of engineering and technical services to the United States Government. We seek an experienced, self-starting Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to serve as a part of the ACI’s team that supports PEO Soldier.

Position Description: 

As an ACI QA Engineer you will be responsible for establishing and tracking key quality metrics, tracking rigorous testing, and ensuring that the software meets business requirements and customer expectations. Your ability to measure, analyze, and report quality data will be crucial in driving continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include the following funtions in several key areas.

  • Metrics-Driven Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and implement a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics to evaluate the software’s functionality, performance, and security.
    • Define and track metrics such as defect density, test coverage, pass/fail rates, cycle time, and release stability.
    • Use metrics to monitor trends, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations for process optimization.
    • Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate quality metrics to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Quality Control (QC) and Testing:
    • Review test plans, cases, and scripts to ensure they align and validate project requirements and KPIs.
    • Collect and analyze data from test results to identify patterns and root causes of defects.
    • Monitor defect logs, track defects to closure, and ensure that quality issues are addressed in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with developers to ensure bugs are well-defined, reproducible, and resolved efficiently.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Continuously analyze testing and project data to identify areas for process improvement and product quality enhancement.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to establish metrics-based quality control processes throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Assist in refining Agile and DevOps processes to incorporate data-driven testing and quality assurance practices.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Partner with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to review and understand software requirements and user stories.
    • Communicate quality-related issues, trends, and metrics to team members and leadership in an easily digestible format.
    • Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing insights on quality metrics and how they affect project goals.
    • Provide recommendations to optimize development workflows based on measurable quality data.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of testing activities, metrics reports, and quality analysis to ensure traceability and compliance with industry standards.
    • Document and share best practices, test plans, and testing strategies to ensure repeatability and efficiency.
    • Support audits and ensure that all testing activities and metrics comply with established quality standards and company policies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of the work being performed, a candidate must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • High School diploma and 20 years' experience, Associates degree and 16 years' experience, Bachelor’s degree and 10 years' experience, or Master's degree and 5 years' of experience.
  • Proven experience (10 years) as a QA/QC Specialist, Software Tester, or in a similar role with a focus on data-driven testing and metrics analysis.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with key QA metrics such as defect density, test coverage, automation test pass rate, and cycle time.
  • Proficiency with test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, ALM) and defect tracking systems.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Eggplant, ) and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python).
  • Strong ability to analyze data, generate reports, and use metrics to drive improvements in quality and efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with performance testing and tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or similar.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Knowledge of industry-standard testing frameworks and methodologies (e.g., ISTQB, Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Experience with business intelligence tools for data visualization (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to create dynamic dashboards and reports.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and services.

Pay Band Information:

$84,400 - $163,400

The ACI pay band for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of a specific compensation. Factors that influence the pay offered to a specific candidate for this position include, but are not limited to, federal and state laws; federal government contract labor categories and contract wage rates; relevant prior work experience; a candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors; geographic location; education; and certifications.
