What are the responsibilities and job description for the Background Investigator position at Augustine Gaming Commission?
Summary
The Background Investigator works directly under the Director of Compliance, aiding in preliminary applicant investigations to ensure regulatory compliance with the Federal and State regulations and Tribal Gaming Ordinance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct background investigations for initial applicants; renewal, promotion, transfer and driver investigations for employees; checking references, employment and gaming license verifications, utilizing investigatory software to process provided information, financial investigations, investigative reports indicating the investigative steps taken and results.
- Meet with applicants and employees, presenting and reviewing applications, re-interviewing applicants and employees, taking fingerprints, notarizing documents, creating badges, create employee file, completing the licensing process.
- Update database(s), sending notifications for new licensees, terminations, transfers, promotions, LOA, updated information, replacement licenses, PAN form information, filing.
- Meet with employees for 30-day agreements, disclosure of information, providing employees gaming licenses, and credit reports. Communicate with Human Resources and Casino Employees and Management.
Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5PM

Requirements:Qualifications/Education/Experience
- Cannot be related to anyone working for Augustine Enterprises.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
- Bilingual in both Spanish and English is required.
- A degree in Criminal Justice, Gaming, Administration of Justice, Business, or any closely related field is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a Gaming environment in addition to the preferred Education Requirements listed above.
- Required to possess a Notary Public appointment by the State of California and a Fingerprint Roller certificate. The Augustine Gaming Commission will provide the necessary time and training to meet this requirement.
- Must obtain and maintain an Augustine Gaming License.
