PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Operating Room Facilitator is to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of the daily OR schedule. This includes all duties which allow for maximum utilization of the operating rooms throughout the day.
Job Requirements
- High school graduate, minimum 18 years old.

- Flexible schedule required.
- Successfully completes Aultman Hospital Operating Room UAP/Facilitating orientation program.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Responsible for facilitating and coordinating rooms on their assigned teams, including turning room over in a timely manner
- Maintain communication between the control desk, central service, receiving, anesthesia, the surgeon, and the perioperative team.
- Work with room personnel to communicate possible patient, instrumentation, or equipment delays.
- Ensure proper instrumentation and supplies are on case carts.
- Participate in the preparation for a procedure by ensuring that proper positioning equipment, suture, and sterile supplies are available to the room according to physician preference and patient needs.
- Move case cart to correct room/location
- Pull extra/OR supplies (sterile)
- Gather needed equipment not kept in room
- Sort case cart items for room—open vs hold
- Assist room personnel with opening of sterile supplies and room set up.
- Prioritize the needs of assigned rooms to best utilize availability.
- Be available for emergencies that arise in assigned rooms.
- Plan breaks for perioperative team members when possible.
- Organize, stock and put away equipment to specific areas.
- Serve as resource person, problem solver, and facilitator for assigned rooms.
- Ensure that all supplies are ready and available for remaining cases.
- Room clean-up/set up for the next day.
- Put extra supplies/equipment away.
- Anesthesia-related facilitator responsibilities
- Consistently cleans, disinfects, and checks equipment after it is used, replace as necessary.
- Locks medication dispensing machine after each case and reviews security of rooms at the end of the day.
- Stocks and checks anesthesia stations between cases:
- Ambu bags
- Suction, circuit, trash, blades, LMA
- Gas tanks for anesthesia machines (as needed)
- Anesthesia stands for adequacy of supplies
- Anesthesia carts in block room, Imaging, Labor and Delivery
- Stocks, cleans and secures emergency carts used by anesthesia.
- Performs other duties as assigned:
- Clean and stock anesthesia equipment room.
- Rotate supplies daily.
- Check CO2 canister and change as needed.
- Keeps work area doors closed at all times.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
PURPOSE: To identify specific functions job requirements and work environment factors that could affect job performance.
O = Occasionally = 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200 repetitions.
C = Constantly = 67-100% of the work shift or 200 repetitions.
