What are the responsibilities and job description for the PATIENT SERVICE REP - HOPD Neurosurgery position at Aultman Health Foundation?
PURPOSE OF POSITION
To greet patients, verify demographic and insurance information collect copays and print fee tickets. Work cooperatively with the remainder of the office structure
TASKS
1. Take phones off answering every morning.
2. Greets consumers in a pleasant professional manner.
3.Verifies demographic, referring physician and insurance information over the telephone or in person.
4. Correctly identifies insurances that need precertification or authorization and ensure that it is obtained.
5. Must collect copays from patients. (See policy on money handling.)
6. Must verify correct amount of cash in drawer upon opening and close out cash drawer in evening.
7. Must notify appropriate staff when supplies are low for recording purposes. (Put on physician schedule if appropriate).
8. Must run fee tickets, day sheets, and SOF forms.
9. Make sure appropriate forms are completed.
10. Keep an eye on the waiting room for supplies and neatness.
11. Answer phone calls/ Make appointments
12. May need to post charges and co-pays
13. May be asked to make patient appointment reminders
14. Inspects patient’s medical record prior to visit to insure completeness as well as making sure the results of tests are available.
15. Make arrangements for various tests to be done. This includes scheduling hospital procedures and out-patient tests. This includes precertification, authorizations, physician orders, communicating with the patient, and putting on physician schedule if appropriate.
16. Other duties as assigned by Practice Coordinator or Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be a high school graduate.
2. The primary purpose is to provide clinical support to the physician, provide patient and family education, and work cooperatively with the remainder of the office structure
3. Must have general computer knowledge.
4. Must have basic typing skills.
5. Must have good health as demonstrated by infrequent absenteeism.
6. Must have ability to communicate well with a variety of clients in mature, courteous, and professional manner.
7. Must be able to function independently and accurately with frequent interruptions.
8. Ability to work efficiently and accurately under conditions of high stress.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Normally works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with a scheduled lunch every day.
2. May require paid overtime before and/or after normal working hours.
3. Works in well-lighted and well-ventilated office.
4. Expected to adhere to general office policy.
5. Subject to blood and body fluids exposure.
6. Subject to frequent interruption.
