NURSING SUMMARY/ PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patient’s/resident’s needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and etc., if applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Maintain current, active BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements.
- Membership in professional nursing organization preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Meal and break times are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage.
- Shifts are scheduled or changed due to the staffing needs of the unit/department based upon volume and acuity.
- Work weekends and holidays as assigned or as applicable based on department needs.
- Cross training depending upon department needs.

Qualifications
- ACLS within 6 months of hiring to Pain.
- Joins and maintains membership in O.N.A. and the Alliance Local Unit of O.N.A. within 31 days of employment.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Oversees case management of chronic pain patients to include, but not limited to, intake, education, OARRS, drug screens, phone time and nurse visits.
- Registers patients for outpatient procedures and office visits correctly and in a timely manner.
- Admits and prepares patients for procedure. Ensures care of the patient through proper identification of the patient, correct procedure sit and allergies.
- Monitors patients pre, intra and post procedure per policy and documents findings in medical record.
- Documents any pre-procedure and follow -up phone calls in Medical Record.
- Collaborates on patient/staff schedules, efficiency of schedules.
- Serves on committees as assigned by Director.
- Communicate with Director and providers to facilitate daily office visits and procedure scheduled.
- Assists in writing policy and procedures for department.
Skills
- Must be knowledgeable in all instruments and machines used in the Pain Department.
- Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required.
Working Conditions
- Shifts are variable to volume of department and provider availability.
- Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with the charge nurse and other staff members to maintain adequate department coverage.
