PURPOSE OF POSITION
Under the direction of the Executive Director Facilities, Engineering, and Construction, or other appropriate staff, the Building Maintenance Tradesman is responsible for providing repairs and installation support of skilled carpentry, cabinetry, and building maintenance in a healthcare setting. The position requires the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks related to building repairs – painting, doors, locks and keys, hanging items, cabinetry repairs, ceiling tiles, and other general repairs. The position also requires the ability to collaborate and perform light range tasks necessary for construction projects as needed with the Construction Services or General Maintenance Departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
- Read and understand floorplans/drawings regularly for building maintenance/construction
- Main location of services performed at Aultman Canton campus only to include hospital and close surrounding outbuildings
- Assist in ensuring that the hospital’s repairs and installations follow appropriate code and keep up with the changes
- Ability to work with wood, metal, and other building materials to complete a project
- Ability to make drywall repairs through mud work and patching, carpet tile, cove base, and wallpaper repairs
- Ability to repair cabinetry and millwork for commercial use
- Always strives to maintain and install work in a neat, organized, and efficient manner
- Must be capable of performing many tasks that require measuring, sizing, and cutting
- Serve as a resource for the department
- Must be comfortable working with machinery and power tools
- Informs supervisor of status of work or update on completion of projects or repair tickets
- Always recognizing your work environment and following infection control protocols
- Responsible for repairs of ceilings, walls, doors, locks, painting, and millwork appropriate to codes and standards of construction
- Assist in keeping sufficient inventory of building maintenance supplies
- Assist in planning, organizing, and maintaining department
- Ability to be a team player and work well with others
- Other building maintenance duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements
|
- Minimum of 10 years building maintenance/construction experience preferred
- Minimum of 5 years prior healthcare work experience preferred
- Strong skills in all aspects of construction
- Ability to provide a high level of customer service
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to think strategically and efficiently
- High level of maturity to manage confidential information in a healthcare setting

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- 7:00am – 3:30pm M-F or hours as required by the job. Occasional weekends and off -shifts for repairs
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
