Job Summary :
The Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and operation of the hotel's physical facilities, ensuring the safety, security, and functionality of all building systems. This role involves managing preventive maintenance programs, responding to guest requests, and supervising engineering staff. The Chief Engineer must perform all duties efficiently, safely, and in compliance with brand standards, local codes, and regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Supervise, train, and coordinate the activities of the engineering team to ensure the smooth operation of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components.
- Implement and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to maintain the hotel’s structural integrity and guest satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations, including fire safety, OSHA, and building codes.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and other hotel departments, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers to secure necessary maintenance services and equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance staff adhere to safety policies and maintain a safe working environment.
- Monitor and manage energy conservation initiatives to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Conduct regular inspections of the hotel property to identify maintenance needs and ensure high standards of upkeep.
- Maintain proper documentation of maintenance work, equipment inspections, and regulatory compliance records.
- Provide support for emergencies, including fire alarms, power failures, and extreme weather conditions.
- Occasionally operate hotel shuttle van as needed (if applicable to property requirements).
- Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management.
